Suspected ritualists, in the early hours of Thursday, beheaded a 12-year-old girl, simply identified as Eguono, at Okwemeva junction off Scott road in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Newspoint reporters learnt that vital organs of the deceased were also severed by the suspected ritualists.
At the moment, residents, still in shock over the development, are afraid to speak to the press for fear of the unknown.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Oghara Division, have gone to evacuate the remains of the deceased.
When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa said, “The DPO actually called me; but they said the girl was not mentally okay.
“Yes, it is confirmed, but the DPO has commenced investigation to unravel the true story as to why the girl was beheaded.”
On his part, The Executive Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon. (Chief) Solomon Golley has condemed the killing of innocent citizens in Oghara, calling on Security Agencies in Ethiope West to be more alert to enforce the law to stop the menace of Yahoo Yahoo boys, ritualists and cultists as well as killings taking place in Oghara.
In a statement issued today in Oghara through his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Comr Omoniyi Freedom Mandela, Chairman of Ethiope West, Golley, promised to ”put a definate end to this evil act of harvesting human parts in the quest to make money by young Nigerians.” In the statement, the Chairman adviced the people of Ethiope West most especially Oghara residents ”to be vigilant and prayerful for God to expose those behind this killings and commiserated with the affected families over the untimely death of their beloved ones and prayed God to grant the families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost.” It could be recalled that within a period of one month, no fewer that five (5) persons were killed in Oghara. While majority is of the view that it was the handiwork of ritualists masquerading as Yahoo boys, minority is of the view it could be politicians, since we are in election season and the fetish ones are on the prowl to renew their ‘black power’. Ritual killings have become very rampant in recent times, coinciding with a worrisome upsurge in the number of very young boys riding in very expensive cars, building mansions and flaunting unexplainable wealth.
