Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa has been prompted by the National Association Of Nigerian Students, Delta State Axis to review the allocation given to education in the 2019 budget from 8% to 26% as recommended by UNESCO.
The demand was contained in a letter dated 25th October, 2018 signed by the NANS/JCC Chairman, Comr. Dio Oghale Emeka Rex addressed to the governor.
“The leadership of Nigerian Students in Delta State therefore reject in totality such meagre allocation for education, it is not acceptable to us and we shall resist it by all means possible”, a portion of the letter read.
The apex students association also demanded that the Okowa led administration declare a state of emergency on education and adopt free education policy for public basic and secondary schools in Delta State.
